MaiMoana Retreat

Architectural New Build — Hatfields Beach, Hibiscus Coast

Clifftop calm with commanding views, Maimoana (meaning ‘by the sea’) is a coastal retreat designed for both beauty and longevity. Perched above Hatfields Beach, this architectural new build is the result of a powerful collaboration between the homeowners, architect Nick Rowe, interior designer Trinity Interior Design and the Ze Build crew.

A timeless weatherboard exterior, light joinery and sweeping ocean views meet warm natural textures and a floorplan designed for laid-back, multi-generational living.

Built for the View (and the elements)

Cape Cod inspired with a nautical nod, the 485m² home is clad in linear weatherboards that mirror the horizontal lines of the horizon beyond. But building on a cliff face isn’t just about looks. The exposed location brought unique challenges: high winds, sea spray, and complex site logistics. With an 18 month timeline, our team carefully navigated every obstacle to ensure the home would not only endure the elements, but thrive in them.

Coastal Living, Elevated

Inside, every space is dialled into its setting. Pitched ceilings and wide openings let light flood in, while oak flooring and painted timber details soften and ground the space. Large sliding doors frame the ocean and open to a covered verandah, seamlessly blending indoor and outdoor living.

Rustic Touches, Polished Execution

A refined yet rustic finish schedule was brought to life through close coordination between Ze Build, Nick Rowe and the client. From custom cabinetry to the lighting and flooring selections, every detail was executed with precision and care.
