Built for Everyday Living

The family at Summerfield lived on the ground floor throughout the entire renovation, so creating a seamless process was essential. The home’s original structure no longer served their lifestyle. The brief was bold: extend the footprint, rebuild the upper level, and create a functional, family-centred home that celebrates summer living by the pool.

From the Ground Up

Work began under full shrink wrap, protecting the home from coastal conditions while foundations were laid for the new ground floor extension. This added a master bedroom and laundry, instantly upgrading the practical flow of the house.

The top story was then removed entirely and rebuilt. On the new footprint, two kids’ bedrooms, a main bathroom, and an upper lounge were created. Frames were built on site, and new trusses delivered to reshape the home. A complete cedar reclad, new roof, and fresh joinery gave the exterior a striking new presence while tying into select areas of the existing cladding.

Craft in the Details

Inside, new stairs were constructed to connect levels, and Ze coordinated all finishing details. Double glazed windows were installed for warmth and efficiency, while joinery and fixtures were chosen to balance everyday durability with refined design. Outside, landscaping brought the setting together: retaining walls, floating concrete steps formed on site, and ready lawn rolled out by the Ze team.

A Summer Retreat at Home

The pool became the heart of Summerfield. Installed with Narellen Pools and completed with fencing, drainage, and a surrounding patio slab, it’s now the centrepiece of daily life. The family spends every day here through summer; swimming, entertaining and enjoying the bush backed privacy of their property. The outdoor design makes the most of both fun and function, with durable materials and thoughtful detailing to handle heavy use.
